Reading So Lit
The first cohort of Reading So Lit is complete! Barbershop Books is proud to announce that 17 participants finished the Reading So Lit program last month. Parents have expressed to program leaders the positive impact that increased out-of-school reading time is having on their children; and best of all, they are picking up books to read for FUN! Are you a self-published author or illustrator of a diverse children’s book? Are you a parent, teacher, or school leader looking for a fun summer writing project for a child? We have received a flood of requests from parents, teachers, and librarians seeking free access to quality reading content with Black protagonists. We’re answering the call by creating a free eLibrary but we need more donations of children’s ebooks, illustrated poems, and child-generated work that celebrate Black and Brown kids. If you are interested in getting your work to children in need, please complete this form to submit your work. If your submission is selected, you will be notified prior to your content being added to the eLibrary.

Even though there is so much uncertainty that persists today, there are people in this world who strive to be the beacon of hope and joy for all – especially young children. Take a moment to read about a donor who raised money to support Barbershop Books in honor of her dear friend who recently passed away.
