As the year comes to an end, we want to remind you that there is still time to support young Black boys across the country.
Did you know that every $1 invested in the Barbershop Books program generates at least 21 minutes of reading in the barbershop for young readers?
Many young Black boys are not provided with what they need to become proficient readers. Empowering and inspiring boys to read will allow them to take control of their education, and to some extent, their future!
Here’s what barbers are saying about their experience with the program:
“It’s great to watch the kids gravitate towards the books. This program has been a definite plus for the kids.” Tony, D’Ambiance Barber Salon (Wilmington, DE)
“I truly appreciate this program. The kids love the books and my kids love the books too.” James Green, Jr., Jagrs Barbershop (Charles County, MD)
“I think it will uplift the community all the way around. It will uplift the nation.” Tim Baker, Baker’s Barber and Cosmetology School (Chattanooga, TN)
“The program has been great. Kids love the books.” Beto, Master Cuts (Charles County, MD)
