Reading So Lit Summer Certified Educator

Barbershop Books, Inc. is hiring Certified Educators for our Reading So Lit Summer program. Certified Educators are state certified teachers who will be responsible for coaching, developing, and mentoring 3-4 Youth Instructors on basic teaching strategies as they relate to the Reading So Lit Summer program. Youth Instructors are high school males of color ages 16-18 who lead the Reading So Lit Summer literacy lessons. In addition to coaching and developing youth leaders, Certified Educators also gain professional experience in the area of digital literacy learning, early childhood education, and early childhood literacy.

Reading So Lit Summer Youth Instructor

Barbershop Books, Inc. is hiring Summer Youth Instructors. Ideal candidates are male high school students of color ages 16-18 who love reading and have an interest in providing young boys with summer reading support. In addition to developing skills in leadership, mentorship, and teaching, Youth Instructors also gain professional experience in the area of teaching, early childhood education, and early childhood literacy. Under the mentorship of a NYS Certified Educator, Youth Instructors lead virtual lessons, participate in weekly career development workshops, and motivate young boys to read for fun.

Reading So Lit Program Intern- Talent and Outreach

Barbershop Books, Inc. is hiring a Reading So Lit Summer Intern. This role offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to our mission of fostering a love for reading among Black and Brown boys. As the Talent and Outreach intern, you’ll be integral in reaching out to and engaging with various program participants, including youth instructors, certified educators, and families. Supported by our Program Coordinator and Administrative Intern, you’ll lead outreach initiatives aimed at spreading enthusiasm for reading in diverse communities. If you’re a college student passionate about literacy and youth development, join us in making a tangible impact by making reading an exciting and accessible experience for all. The internship is open to college students and recent graduates.
