What is Reading So Lit Summer?
Reading So Lit (RSL) Summer is a free two-week virtual literacy program designed to inspire boys of color (ages 6–8) to read for fun. Through eight one-hour lessons (Monday–Thursday), small groups of 10 boys explore vocabulary and real-world experiences that highlight the everyday choices that readers make like when to read and what to read.
Trained male high school students of color (ages 16–18) serve as relatable reading role models and lead fun, interactive literacy activities, small-group discussions, and engaging games on our award-winning Reading So Lit platform. Over 8 engaging lessons, your child will build reading confidence, motivation, and agency. Certified teachers observe every session and provide ongoing support to ensure a safe, supportive, and enriching experience.
What are parents saying?
Each participant receives a free Lit Kit containing supplies and hands-on activities. Upon completion, boys also receive a curated set of free children’s books recommended by boys.
